Mini crafters

August 30, 2011

One of the things that we enjoy as a family is that my Mr’s 10 and 7 love crafting as much as I do.  They have their favourite techniques too.  Mr 10 is a little more free style, slap it down, while Mr 7 has often thought carefully about placement and patterns.  A couple of weekends ago they wanted to get into my crafting space with me and create something for the big birthday boy in the house.

Mr 7 took inspiration from the layout of the hearts on the top of the hearts punch:

He was also very clear that he wanted to use the same colour for the base but that he wanted to put ink on the hearts by rubbing them directly on the ink pad.  Having seen his big brother use the other punches, he decided that they should also be added.  And not forgetting the inside:

Lot of Bots was the set that had to be used – such a shame it is on the retirment list! – and three coordinating colours were chosen: Marina Mist, Baja Breeze and Basic Grey.

Mr 10 definitely had a view on what he wanted – a pop up heart.  This was a little challenging….. only because mum has seen lots of tutorials and how-to’s but has yet to actually try a pop up herself!!  I think he did a good job of working it out for himself – and Mr 10 was certainly pleased to see his vision come to life:

And once the inside was taken care of, he decided the front also needed some attention:

Sponging through a mask was what he decided to do after watching me prep for a set of Christmas cards using the SU impressions example.  Totally love that the Mr’s can express themselves in their own way as much as I can.  Thanks to their mum’s ever expanding stash!
